Return to Perrenland

Perrenland
  • The greatest threat to Perrenland is Iuz, a nation ruled by a demonic demigod of the same name. He started a war across most of the northern lands nearly a decade ago. Though there was a treaty which paused the war in most areas, fighting never ended in the Vesve Forest across the Clatspur Mountains. Humanoid bands slowly move the fighting west toward the Clatspurs.
  • Perrenland consists of eight cantons, representing the eight clans that coexisted in the valley centuries ago. Each canton is somewhat autonomous and is ruled by the family of the traditional clan leader. The clan leader chooses a representative to the Cantonical Council that advises the nation's ruler the Grand Voorman.
  • Perrenland has few allies. During the fighting over the last decade, Perrenland took a neutral stance toward Iuz. This angered many of the neighboring nations and Perrenland has been trying to repair the relationships with these trade partners.
  • Perrenland is known for three main exports: alcoholic beverages, cheese, and mercenaries. Though the nation has only a small standing army, it has a long tradition of providing its militias as mercenaries to other nations. This led to the Mercenary Pact which gives chartered mercenary groups some protections under law within the nation.
  • Two passes leave Perrenland to the south. The southwestern pass heads to Ket, a Baklunish (human race) nation that is the gateway and key trading route to the lands of the Baklunish west. The southeastern pass leads to the demihuman vale of the Highfolk and to Furyondy beyond. The Kingdom of Furyondy declared the Great Northern Crusade against Iuz several years ago.
  • To the north of Perrenland is the open plains of the Tiger and Wolf Nomads, Baklunish tribal horsemen who arrived from the west a few centuries ago. They historically have raided Perrenland and occasionally traded with them. The Wolf Nomads have become more civilized in the last few decades and now are fairly reliable trade partners who are probably Perrenland's strongest current allies.
