Werewolf: The Apocalypse

Werewolf: The Apocalypse is a role-playing game from the old World of Darkness line by White Wolf. In this game, players take the role of werewolves known as Garou (from the French 'loup garou';as well as other lycanthropes), warriors who are locked in a two-front war against (on the one hand) the spiritual desolation of urban civilization and (on the other) supernatural forces of corruption that seek to bring about the Apocalypse.

Along with the other titles in the original World of Darkness, Werewolf was retired in 2004. Its successor title, Werewolf: The Forsaken, was released on March 14, 2005.

The newer Werewolf: The Forsaken included updated rules, many of which are sleeker. However, they also changed every aspect of setting in some minor way. They changed the name for every tribe, every ausice, the name werwolves call themselves, the name for the different forms, names of gifts, etc. This move greatly alienated their fan-base and the relaunch was not only unsuccessful, but seriously crippled the fanbase. A year or so after the disasterous World of Darkness relaunch, White Wolf was sold.
