Pre Recorded History through the 5th Century

• History as recorded with two exceptions:

• There are a handful of recorded people with “powers.”  All of them are attributed to religion, or mythology. There is much debate if these recorded instances are factual religious figures with divine power (as Christians believe Jesus to be), if they are superstitious mythology (as historians recognize the Greek gods to be) or if they were actual living people with the mutant gene, or perhaps, instead of being myth - maybe there were places where mutants gathered (such as Mount Olympus).
  

• The first known recording of the dimension traveling city of Alar has it on the Italian Peninsula in the 5th century. The city stays in Italy for eighty eight years, then vanishes ten days before the Goths conquer the peninsula.

6th-7th Century:  The Rise of Western Europe / The Surge of Islam

• In Western Europe, some of the older Roman elite families die out while others became more involved with Church than secular affairs. Values attached to Latin scholarship and education mostly disappear, and while literacy remains important, it becames a practical skill rather than a sign of elite status.

• Peasantry is much less documented than nobility, but the class structure is still  intact. For the most part, massive inequality keeps the lower class “in their place;” however,  unlike in the late Roman period, it is possible for a free peasant's family to rise into the aristocracy via several generations of military service to a powerful lord.

• Religious beliefs in the Eastern Empire and Persia are in flux during the late 6th and early 7th centuries. Christianity has active missions competing with the Persians pre-Islamic religions in seeking converts, especially among residents of the Arabian Peninsula. All these strands come together with the emergence of Islam in Arabia during the lifetime of Muhammad (death: 632). After his death, Islamic forces conquer much of the Eastern Empire and Persia, starting with Syria  in 634–635, Persia in 640-41, reaching Egypt in 640–641, and Algeria and Libya in the later 7th century.

• The dimensional traveling city of Alar returns and remains in Syria for eighty eight years. During this time the people of Alar convert to Islam. 

Late 7th-Early 8th Century: The Dark Ages / The Necromancer Wars / Charles the Great

• Sometime in the late 7th century an alien prison ship from Unknown, burns in Earth's atmosphere, breaks into fifty large pieces of wreckage and rains burning debris all over Europe. To the people of the 7th century it appears as if the heavens open and burning gods fall from the sky.  When people flock to the wreckage they find alien beings alive and well. The aliens have technology far beyond comprehension and bring with them the knowledge of sorcery. These two things are enough that large flocks of people believe them to be gods. These “gods” are actually alien sorcerers and most of them, up until the crash, had been imprisoned hardened murderous criminals who now, rule human cities as gods. Mankind forms cults and religions around the "gods"  and learn their magic. The aliens are all too willing to manipulate humans to do their bidding. Nations become militarily insignificant if they do not have a “god” who teaches them sorcery. The great religions of the land appropriate alien sorcery and attribute their new power to their deity. The masses are easily swayed. And so, it was common for Islamic sorcerers to believe their power is from Allah, in the very same way as Christian Templar and Jewish Kabbalah practitioners believe God to have granted them power. 
  

• Wars begin almost immediately and several of the alien gods are killed in large scale combat. The aliens, not wanting to risk their own lives, teach their followers ‘necromancy’ -- the art of animating the dead. Great undead armies form and engulf Eastern Europe and large portions of northern Asia. The Necromancer Wars rage for several decades and untold horrors are unleashed upon the living. Europe and Asia are on the brink of total annihilation. Until ... 

• 774 - Charles the Great (Charlemagne), in the name of Christ, embarks upon a program of systematic expansion in 774 that unifies a large portion of Europe, eventually controlling modern-day France, northern Italy, and Saxony.  The armies of Charlemagne effectively end the Necromancer Wars and most of the alien “gods” are KIA, executed or vanish from recorded history. But, Charlemagne did not act alone.  His armies had powerful allies to combat the Necromancer “gods.” In a letter, from Charlemagne to the Pope, Charles recounts that he has been contacted by God and told to align with "the gorilla folk of Opek-Re," - a race of benevolent intelligent gorillas from a hidden civilization within the Pangaea of middle and south Africa. Up until now explorers had always found that African region to be an impassable, extremely deadly jungle where, reportedly - "monsters" dwell and breed. The African jungle is universally avoided because after several centuries of attempted exploration - no one has ever returned from an exploration there.  Somehow, Charlemagne finds a way to contact the gorilla folk and they agree to help. The gorillas bring with them powerful weapons of iron - hand held cannons capable of firing thousands of cannonballs per minute, swords made of hard light capable of cutting through nearly anything, and medicine powerful enough to heal almost any injury.   Charlemagne's army, led by platoons of gorilla warriors, take the battle to the Necromancer Hordes and recover all of Europe and Asia by 810. After the war the gorilla folk teach humanity new farming technique and enough social engineering to help Western Europe and Asia recover. The gorilla folk return to Africa, allowing humans to govern themselves but issue a series and dire warning, telling the Kings of the world never to enter the African Pangaea Jungle and to never again dabble in necromancy or attempt to create any other kind of mass destruction weapon.  

• Alar - During the Necromancer War scraps of heavily debated information suggest the dimensional traveling city is in China for eighty eight years. The Chinese government denies that Alar has even been within their border, and there has never been any legitimate recorded information to dispute their position.

8th-14th Century:     The High Middle Ages / The Renaissance Period / Albion

• Much of history is as recorded including the plagues, the wars, the new kingdoms throughout Europe and their mass conversion to Christianity, the Jews spreading across Europe, and the crusades into Persia. Most religions denounce the use of magic and even the non devout leaders feared its necromantic danger and so magic was banned in most of the world -- with the exception of Great Britain. Magic lingered in the blood of Britons who continue to practice the mystic art for centuries.  In the 9th century the Britons build an enormous school of Magecraft in Ireland, but quickly found that the handful of sorcerers during these centuries did not have the power or influence to change politics or significantly alter the world. That would all change in the first years of the fourteenth century.

• Alar - From the 8th to the 14th century the city appeared in several locations throughout Europe, always with the same pattern.  It will vanish from the face of earth for two years, appear in a new location it has never before been, remain for eighty eight years then vanish and repeat. It became known as THE city of great secrets, powerful magic and devout Islamic followers.  It remained neutral in all wars and never committed troops or mages in any major conflict.  Staring in the 8th century and continuing to this day, the Church and the Vatican have always had strained relations with Alar.  While the Vatican recognizes Alar’s cultural significance and the vast amount of knowledge within the traveling city, the Church has never been comfortable with Alar’s mysticism, its secrets, its unknown origin or its conversion to Islam.  

14th-17th Century:     The Renaissance Period / Sentinel Hill / Albion

• Much of history as recorded. The intellectual basis of this period was its own invented version of humanism derived from the rediscovery of classical Greek philosophy, such as that of Protagoras, who said, that "Man is the measure of all things." This new thinking became manifest in art, architecture, politics, philosophy, science and literature.

• Alar and Sentinel Hill: There is a historic absence of Alar during this period and the traveling city is not heard from for several decades. Suddenly, in the early 1600’s it appeared in the Duchy of Prussia but it was no longer the lone city of Alar.  It was now and becomes ever since, two cities living on top of each other separated by a thin mystic veil.  Sentinel Hill, “the top city” and Alar, “the second city”.  A city on top of a city but coexisting at the same time, in the same location with two completely different cultures and peoples.  Sentinel Hill seems to modernize with the times while Alar is a mystic city of secrets forever living within the Islamic middle ages. Complicated mystic rules govern the reasons why / when a person can pass back and forth between the two cities eventually leading to the creation of a specific watch force to police the purposely passing or to pursue the accidentally passing, or to punish the transgressors. The word of the, “Breach Police” or later colloquially called, “Breach” is final.  Many murky conspiracy theories have tackled the who / what / how powerful are the Breach Police with no convincing answers. A visitors may enter Sentinel Hill with relatively little difficulty but must pass through all sort of complicated tests and interviews before allowing to legally cross from Sentinel Hill to Alar.  Natives of both cities have no problem controlling accidental “breaches” and instances of it are extremely rare. Because of the difficulties of getting into Alar, eventually that name falls into disuse and by the end of the 17th century the traveling cities are commonly called, “Sentinel Hill.” To the modern date the cities remain neutral in all world conflicts and wars.  
  

• Mid 16th century: Great Britain reopens powerful “ley lines.” After multiple centuries of continued practice in magecraft the great fey power connections are reawakened (or perhaps, “artificially created,” depending on which scholar you ask).  Mystic connections to dreamland, astral planes,  elemental umbras and fey summer homes are discovered.  Great Britain forms the major super power of the world by combining England, Scotland, Tuatha De Danann (former Ireland), Finland, Norway, Sweden and Iceland into the great Fey / Magical Nation of Albion. Mythological creatures and Fey demihumans return to the the land and thrive within the borders of Albion, though most seem incapable of leaving Her protected borders.  Rarely can one spot a fey creature as far away as France or Italy or Russia. Not until after WWII are fey folk seen, albeit rarely, in the New Worlds.  

• The Seven Major and Seven Minor Arcanum are formed in Albion.  They are a body of sorcerers formed to protect the borders of Albion from supernatural, mystic or extra dimensional enemies of the kingdom. The Seven Major Arcanum are shrouded in secrecy but the Seven Minor Arcanum are generally openly known as the soldiers and agents of the Seven Major.    

17th Century-WWI:    Empire of Eternal Ming / The Ghost Dance Ritual / World War I

• Much of recorded history is the same including the rise of the Russian Empire, the wars in the middle east, the advancements in technology & medicine and the continued sorcerous might of the world’s great superpower, Albion.  With a few notable exceptions:

• As the Great Ming Dynasty comes to a close (mid 1600’s) the western world begins to hear rumors of the magic power of the Eternal Jade Emperor. History suggest that Emperor Ming (death 1945) learned Necromantic magic and found the mystic keys to everlasting life then decreed himself the Eternal Emperor of China. He rebuilt “The Forbidden City” in the center of Beijing and ruled China from its green palace of power. Ming creates sixteen powerful magic artifacts and places them across China to protect her borders from invaders, foreign devils and political ideas deemed “improper” to Emperor Ming. Despite the obvious mystic power of Ming, China enforces an outlaw on magic, punishable by death. In later dates the outlaw includes powers, telepathy and fringe scientists.  Emperor Ming declares himself the one and only divine immortal on Earth.  A magical cold war begins between Albion and Emperor Ming and does not end until Ming’s death in WWII.

• There are a significant amount of recorded people with “powers” in this age. Mutants born with the speed of a cobra -- or the strength of five men -- or the ability to regenerate lost limbs -- or skin that will not be cut by blades or punctured by bullets. They are far and few between but modern scholars and archaeologists place the number of mutants during this age at .003% of the population. In harsh kingdoms the life expectancy of a mutant was short, less than ten years as mutants are considered unclean monsters by many, especially radical religions.   In more civilized areas mutant life expectancy was a bit longer than average, approx. 35 years.In modern times mutants generally live to 120 years old.
  

• In the early years of the 1700’s a mysterious event happened in Rome and all the people vanished. Two attempts to repopulate Rome have been attempted, both ending in total disaster. To this day Rome is a haunted, desolate ghost city filled with malevolent things.  There are many conspiracies as to what happened but there is little factual evidence to suggest a truth. Currently Rome is quarantined by UNTIL (see later).
  

• The New World.  Pilgrims fled religious persecution from Europe intending to land near the Hudson River in what will be New York but dangerous winds forced them to land at Cape Cod. Much of the history of the United States is unchanged until slavery.  Slaves were brought from northern Africa - Morocco, Algeria, Libya and Egypt but the rest of continent of Africa was known to be hostile wild jungle filled with all manner of beast, dinosaur and intelligent gorilla and so the aborigines that lived in mid and southern Africa were never captured by whites.  Eventually, the African southern aborigines who warred with the mid aborigines captured each other during combats and sold prisoners to white powers. While the gorillas never left their continent to end slavery worldwide they did eventually put a stop to the aborigines selling of each other. So slavery still happened in the United States and the country was built on the backs of overworked slaves.

• The civil war happened much as recorded.  But after the war the last powerful Native American Elder found the secret to necromantic animated undeath.  This elder, Ghost Dancer, was a powerful Shaman and recognized spiritual flaws in the original alien necromancy. So he changed the spells and created the Ghost Dance Ritual. A ritual to turn Native Americans into a Harrower, sometimes referred to as, “Harrowed.”  Harrowed are fast undead that retain all their thoughts & skills from their life. The Harrowed do not age and can not die from disease or poison but they can be killed by a variety of means - magic, fire, dismemberment, extreme damage. They are considerably strong and resilient to damage. In secret, Ghost Dancer creates thousands of harrowed, then gathers the remaining tribes of the Sioux and their Native allies to the southern west of the United States. Together the Alliance took over all the Territory of Utah and New Mexico (modern day equivalent of Nevada, New Mexico, Colorado, Utah and Arizona) and claimed it as sovereign land of the Native Americans. The United States sent soldiers and the American / Sioux War of 1874 raged for several months until gorilla intervention.  It was clear the Sioux was losing to the overwhelming numbers of American soldiers until the gorilla folk of Opek-Re came and their superior technology and firepower (far, far superior) to help the Sioux win two major engagements.  In fact, those two engagements are historically known as two of the most lopsided victories of large scale combat in history.  In two engagements, over ten days, the Americans lost 3,411 troops, the Sioux lost a few dozen braves and not a single gorilla combatant went KIA or MIA.  A ceasefire was formed, the gorilla folk of Opek-Re openly accept the Sioux Nation as sovereign land and all but force the United States to accept the Sioux Nation as a new border ally.  The gorilla folk open an  embassy within Sioux territory, their first outside of Africa. By the modern date the gorilla folk have several embassies all over the world including one in DC and most major world powers; except China.  The Sioux Nation embassy remains the only gorilla embassy heavily armed with a full platoon of gorilla warriors.
  

• Ghost Dancer and his ritual do not survive the American / Sioux war and most of his Harrowed are killed. But not all of them. A handful still exist although they are, very rarely seen outside the Sioux Nation. As ageless beings the extent of their power is unknown and generally feared.   
  

• World War I:  Much of it is as history records. Albion would have stayed out of the war had not the Eternal Emperor Ming sent Chinese troops to the aid of Germany and Austria-Hungary. Chinese troops brought devastating, destructive magic by using two of Ming’s powerful artifacts.  Albion responded by sending human soldiers, dwarven sappers, elven snipers and Albion’s finest griffin riding sorcerers to the aid of France, Greece and Serbia. Japan and the U.S. joined the allies. Turkey and Bulgaria joined the Central Powers. The War expanded rapidly beyond control. Once again, the gorilla folk stepped in to intervene.  They did not join combat, instead they send diplomats to enforce a ceasefire. It works. Depending on which scholar you speak with the gorilla folk either end the war by threatening force or they ended the war through effective peaceful diplomacy. Either way, WWI came to an end.

• Both of the Chinese artifacts, “Gouijan, the Goblet That Defies Time” and "Ruyi Jingu Bang: the Red Spear of Sun Wukong, the Monkey King" are lost during the war.  Modern scholars are divided between theories suggesting the artifacts returned to China, were confiscated by Albion or were destroyed by the gorilla folk (who have shown a hatred of all things magic) Chinese officials never speak publicly about the missing artifacts.

1919-1945:     The End of the Great War - WWII (the rest of the timeline focuses mainly on the United States)

• Much of history is as recorded. The rise of the socialist Nazi party in Europe and their sympathizers in the US, the expansion of the United States into a super power and manufacturer, the great depression of the US, prohibition, Hitler’s Aryan Master Race (against the Jews, the mutants, the sorcerers, the gorilla folk and the other non whites).  Hostilities between Japan and China rise after the "Marco Polo Bridge Incident" which led to the two declaring war against each other. When they declared war against each other, Hitler invaded Poland. Which caused France to declare war on Germany.  World War II begins.

• Albion, fearing its power was vastly greater than all other countries did not join the war effort for fear their sorcery would slaughter opposing forces. That is, until Germany showed the world it’s “Der Stahl Man Grob Soldat”-- steam powered mech units & telepathic super soldiers. Germany had produced weapons of destructive force unlike the world had ever seen.  But not only that, German scientists had produced a way to force the human mind to awaken, telepathically.  The “forced techniques” required German telepaths to take a cocktail of daily drugs and to wire themselves up to portable batteries and shock themselves with electricity. The prolonged exposure to electric shock rapidly fried the nervous system of the soldier but for several months he was capable of all sorts of telepathic, telekinetic and mind controlling abilities.  The Germans crushed the Polish and the French.  Albion declared war on Germany and so began the five year stand off of Albion sorcery vs. German science.  Most of Germany's super science was created by madman genius fringe scientist, Doctor Albert Zerstoiten (in modern times known as infamous criminal mastermind, Dr. Destroyer). The leaders of Japan, knowing the Eternal Emperor of China would be too arrogant to again join the Germans, quickly allied with Italy and Germany and formed the Axis of Great Nations. Germany, now allied with Japan, invaded western Russia.  Germany hoped Japan would invade Russia's eastern flank and the two Axis nations would crush the Reds between their forces; but that never was the case as Japan was endlessly stuck in a ground war in China and later, with the United States. 

• The United States stays out of the “European War” despite FDR’s insistence to enter. Eventually FDR forms the “Lend Lease Act” and sends tanks, materials and aid to Albion. Later, the US Senate votes to cut off all oil and imports to Japan.  Japan, fearing a complete depletion of its resources, attacks Pearl Harbor. The entire world is now engulfed in war.

• The US. forms, The Manhattan Project, to create nuclear weapons for deployment in WWII. The gorilla folk, who had not intervened in five years of World War II, teleport into the secret laboratories of the Manhattan Project and shut it down. The gorilla folk destroyed all evidence of atom splitting technology going so far as to chemically wipe the minds of the scientists involved.   

• The European war continues but with the addition of American troops, American materials and the sorcerous might of Albion, eventually, the Germans surrender. Hitler commits suicide. Japan, determined to wipe out the Chinese, does not surrender and in fact leads a daring and successful assassination attempt against the “Eternal Emperor."  Emperor Ming, it turns out, is not actually, “eternal.” "Eternal Emperor" is a title that had been passed down from father to son and through the generations each child had less and less magic in his blood. Japanese assassins kill the Emperor in his sleep and wipe out Ming’s entire lineage. After the war the Chinese Qing Dynasty begins and leads up to modern day communism.

• A second, very secretive, Manhattan Project is created in the US, code named, “The Nevada Garden.” This time the United States experiments with new ways to produce super powered soldiers. Results are rushed but met with mixed success.  The project works and the United States begins pumping out super powered soldiers and telepaths and secretly sending them to the Japanese warfront. The American super powered saboteurs suicide-kill hundreds of thousands in Nagasaki and Hiroshima and force the Japanese to surrender.

• The Nevada Garden experiments continue well into the sixties until Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy shuts down the, “Inhumane Experiments on American Soil.”  He attempts to prosecute several of the scientists, including Doctor Zerstoiten (who had come to the U.S. after WWII) but they scattered into the winds and the best RFK was able to do was incarcerate several of the torture guards. It’s unknown how many successful “powers” came out of the experiment and how many people died in the attempt.

1945-1992:    The Cold War / “The Eighties” / The Powers Registration Act

• World War II ends. The mutant gene expands to .1% of the population but mutants had been targeted by Hitler’s programs killing more than a million of them, along with several million Jews and hundreds of thousands of homosexuals.  Not to mention the sixty million worldwide deaths from the war.  Israel is formed, there are still wars and hatred in the middle east, and a cold war builds with Russia.

• The Cold War: The stockpiling of fringe scientists, telepaths, super powers, mutants and the newly discovered “Neutronium Alloy,” an alloy which is in fact, constructed from fallen pieces of the spaceship that crashed in the 7th century.  It was discovered that, through various alchemical methods, “neutronium” can be melted down and reformed into highly advanced technological weapons, armor and gadgets. Due to the large but limited amount of “neutronium” in the world the alloy is obscenely expensive and “Neutronium Alchemists” are highly sought after.  The stockpiling of super powers ends in the early eighties when the U.S.S.R goes bankrupt and democratic elections are held.

• It takes twenty years for the USSR to become a superpower again under Vladimir Putin, by the mid 2000’s, they are back on top of the world.

• “The Eighties” - This was the crazy time for “powers.”  People donned costumes and declared themselves superheroes or super villains. Some fought for justice & honor -- some for greed and power.  They had secret identities and had massive super powered battles in major cities all over the world.  The sheer amount of damage done to the environment, infrastructures and the cities themselves was nearly incalculable.  Over the decade, millions of civilian casualties racked up around the world and forced the United Nations and world governments to act.  

• The United Nations Tribunal on International Law, UNTIL, is formed in 1956 but not fully supported or funded until the eighties. A global police force that has the authority to enter the territory of any UN member -- for the purposes of dealing with superhuman crime and related matters of global security.

• Huge criminal empires are formed during this time: VIPER, the COBRA Initiative, GENOCIDE (anti mutant factions with a police force of twenty foot tall robotic "Minute Men" warriors), Magha the Hood and her League of Power,  TERROR Inc. Many of which still operate today.

• A superpower registration act is passed in most countries.  Many superpowers become government agents or join the military.  Several “Strongholds” are built around the world; including one off the coast of NYC.  Each built to imprison specific types of people with powers.  “Yellow Rooms” are created, rooms with large light bombardments that use specific "harmonic energies" designed to suppress the mutant gene and temporarily remove mutant powers. Mutants, telepaths, sorcerers - you register or you go to jail.  Many “powers” rebel and are killed or go missing.  These registration acts are controversial to be sure but they absolutely curb the wanton violence the superpowers of the eighties had contributed too. Today information about the eighties is difficult to come by as there has been some kind of world wide suppression and purge of knowledge about that specific decade.  There are lots of conspiracy theories about the suppression and most of them involve gorilla folk intervention.

1992-Present Day:     9/11 / Pangaea / The Modern Day

• 9/11 and Al Qaeda:  The terrorist attack on the World Trade Center(s) brought down one of the towers and damage the Pentagon but due to the actions of New York "powers" the second Trade Center is saved; while the actions of brave people on United Flight 93 brought that flight down without it reaching its target. These terrorist actions led to the invasion of Iraq under the false declarations that they had developed atom splitting weapons of mass destruction, the downfall of Saddam Hussein, the PATRIOT act and led up to the current destabilization trouble found today in Afghanistan, Iraq and Syrian up to and including the creation of ISIS.  

• Pangaea.  Most of modern mid and south Africa is still a lush wild tropical  jungle where dinosaurs survive and wild creatures roam, where native aborigines have never met a modern white man or even heard of technology, where the highly technologically advanced gorilla folk of Opek-Re rule from their hidden cities in central Africa. Northern Africa including Egypt, Libya, Algeria and Morocco advance as history normally understands and much of those areas are desert sand and mountain regions.  South of those specific African countries there is a wall of deadly gorilla made nano tech that protects lush jungle of Pangaea.  Modern archaeologists have also uncovered several sites of ruins many \ centuries older than the Aztecs, suggesting ancient gorilla cities in other parts of the world, all destroyed a thousand years before known recorded history. 

• NASA still exists, though under the watchful eye of the gorillas.  In fact, NASA, the US and other governments have been allowed to send communication satellites into orbit but there have been no exploratory missions into space nor have there been moon landings.  There is plenty of photographic evidence showing ruins of a civilization on the moon.  Possibly gorilla. Modern photographs of the solar system has shown a sophisticated defense array scattered through the asteroid belt pointing away from Earth.  The gorilla folk have never publicly spoken about their history, the moon ruins or the asteroid space defense array.

• The gorillas have ambassadors in most major countries and have a permanent veto seat on the United Nations but they rarely participate in the politics of man unless it is to shut something down.  Opinions of them vary from loved “benevolent protector” to hated “Orwellian big brother.”  They are equally respected and hated.  The Island of Madagascar has the only slightly modernized aboriginal folk of Pangea. Under the watchful eye of the gorilla folk, beneficial visits from Australia led to crossbreeding and eventual a few mixed racial towns of Australian / Africans, on the island.
  

• Albion remains the major super power in the world, only second (perhaps) to Opek-Re. Albion is a cornucopia of magic, steam powered marvels, clockwork automatons, fey creatures, mythological monsters, enchanted lands, medieval castles all intertwined with modern day cities and technology.
  

• China has become the world’s leading source of “Black Tech,” illegal technology based on the science of, but not made from, neutronium.  The produced -- hand held rail weapons, energy weapons, personal force field technology, energy melee weapons, cyber-ware, body implants and smart prosthetic all of which can be bought for a high price. The Yakuza control the out pouring of "Black Tech" with a bloody, iron fist.  The power and money they wield rival most countries. China is the only superpower that does not have a gorilla embassy within their country. Ming’s remaining fourteen super artifacts have been lost to time.

• The United States and the Sioux Nation are close allies, for the most part.  There are still plenty of Americans, mostly in the former confederate states, that hate the Sioux Nation. In the past several years representatives of the Tea Party have been elected in some of those southern states.  The Tea Party Senators and House representatives openly attempt to get the United States to reclaim its land from the Sioux and treats Natives as a hostile invading force on occupied American soil.

• In the United States, if you have powers or learn sorcery, you must register with the government.  This is as ingrained as registering for the draft and registering your purchase of a deadly weapon.  Unregistered mutants, powers, psychics, neutronium alchemists and trained sorcerers are technically considered criminals in the same way carrying an unregistered firearm makes you a criminal.  An unregistered, if caught, is fined and gets in trouble with government but very infrequently gets jail time.  Unless, of course, you continuously do stupid things with your powers.  

• Final note on powers.  The mutant gene never developed control over energy and so mutants are not able to fly or project fire or have laser eyes or anything like that.  All mutants powers are physical in nature.  Energy projection is magic.  There are two learning schools of magic in the United States: The Harvard Academy of High Sorcery, and The Brooklyn Community College of Magic.  The only other known accredited academy of magic is the Royal Academy of Magecraft in Tuatha De Danann.  Telepathy can not be trained, you must be born with it but it has been scientifically proven that being telepathic does not mean you have the mutant gene.  It IS possible to be born with the mutant gene and also be born with telepathic abilities, though that is rare and one born such would be highly coveted by governments.  It should be noted that "neutronium alchemy" is a magical craft that can be trained but you must be highly intelligent to learn it and few people are able to decipher the complicated math and formula.  Finally, neutronium alloy is known to absorb magic and reflect telepathic powers, further increasing it's astronomic value.
