Return to Meridian
Having discovered the threat of a marching Goblin Army from the nearly drowned drow, the company makes their way to the watch commander, to inform him of the threat. After securing a promised bounty of 5 pieces of gold per goblin nose, the company heads west to scout and confront this army.
After several days of travelling along the river, the company is ambushed by a war-party of goblin raiders. After a furious exchange of steel and spells, the company is the victor. An interrogation and search of their gear reveals that this war party is attached to a larger contingent (21) of goblins who, along with an equal size band of Orcs and Hobgoblins are planning on marching on Tirnar in seven days time.
The company tries to set an ambush, hoping to attact another war-party to the smoke signs of the burning goblin bodies, but instead of attacting the war party, they attract the entire goblin strike force, which results in a much longer engagement, as the Goblin hexor's obscuring cloud made the otherwise simple battle more complicated. Had it not been for Kythrial's well-laid traps, the combat might have played out far different. Searching all of the bodies does not reveal any further intelligence, but it does reward the company with 1000 pieces of gold, and some magical bracers which Kithrial plans to use with lethal efficency!
Victorious, the company rides hard to Tirnar to tell them of the invading forces. Turning over the ears (not noses) of the slain goblins to the guard of Tirnar, they secure a bounty of 5 gold per ear. They then negotiate with the council of Tirnar as to what action should be taken regarding the other two armies. For the price of: 7 gold per hobgoblin ear, 8 gold per orc ear, 150 pieces of gold up front, and a Tower within Tirnar upon completion... the company left to confront the oncoming invaders.
The council preferring to face the Hobgoblins if needed, the Company found and ambushed the Orcs. In a precision strike, removing their Eye of Grummsh, the Company slew the 17 assembled Orcs. After searching, they found no evidence that there were any more Orcs attached to this group. So, resting and preparing, the group planned on crossing over to where the hobgoblins should be camped, hoping they can get to them before they begin marching.
In a swift battle, the company, now referring to themselves as Compass found and slew a band of 19 Hobgoblins. Searching the bodies, they found some intelligence revealing a map which included Meridian and Tirner, as well as two other unnamed cities. One was circled and the other x'ed out. Attached was a note that said, "Rilar is under control, Take control of Tirnar and wait for me there." The script was decidedly not hobgoblin, and the company decided they needed to return quickly to inform the council of Tirnar, and then the Council of Meridian.
