12th Altruiak
Continuing where we left off...
We leave the magma room and go around a corner, down some halls, and stairs and then come to a large sealed door.
Inside we see Tharivol sitting on a large chair chair around a large table, with some large beings. Four firegiants, one of them a lord, or know as a Forge Caller. There is also an Air Archon Tempest and five Azers. Arust opes fire and the fight is on.
He misses the Azers who stand infront of us with Twin Shot. The Tempest hides behind Thar's chair and Thar hides behind the bosses chair. The Giants hit flick and Ryvv with their javelins and they're slowed. Ryvv kills two Azers and hits a giant. The two remaining Azers flank Ryvv. I drop an Azer, sing, and move up to stay in range for healing. Brenna immobilizes 2 or 3 of the giants with her pot of treasure and the Forge Caller says to one Azer that he should guard this gem in a bowl. He then drops a flame burst in our hall and we're all a little hurt but Arust. Everyone hit is taking ongoing, but Gnolly and I avoid the damage. Strae drops a three holy light bomb thing on the three giants, missing, critting and hitting. Flick moves up, and misses an azer with his thrown dagger/axe.
Arust moves up to the Azer and attempt his Stab and Shoot (a favorite), but misses, and the Azer then takes the opportunity to hit him back as she shoots the boss. He misses the boss, but the Azer hits Arust. Then Arust spends an AP, shoots and kills the Azer, but not before being hit again. Then he marks the boss, launches a hammering volley, and hits the boss knocking him prone. He takes his ongoing fire damage from the Azer hits. The Tempest charges flying through the air at Flick, but misses. Thar comes out of the shadows on the Boss and unleases a Predator's Flurry on him, hitting and dazing him. Giants all attack Flick with Javelins, 2 miss and 1 hits. Ryv steps out, Prismatic Beams the three giants and the Tempest. Critting, dazing, leaving ongoing damage on them, and then Action Points to repeat the maneuver. Ouch. The single Azer attacks Thar and hits. I use Stirring Shout and Song of Conquest on the boss. Brenn slides some around and gets some temp HP. The Boss Forge Caller mises Thar. Strae misses. Flick charges the Tempest, crits, big damage (88!!), then melee attacks and misses, spends an AP, turning on his Black Dragon Rage and hitting the Tempest again.
Arust sets his Perfect Aim on the boss, and unleashes his Confounding Arrows (not his magic missile). He uses Elven Accuracy and some other good luck to hit with all three doing almost as much damage as Flick. The Tempest wacks Flick. Thar activates some Bracers, then uses Blood Moon Frenzy and drops the boss. Flick gets hit by two giants and the third misses him. Ryvv moves up to the Tempest and does a Close Blast radiant color spray, hits one giant and misses two. Azer attaks thar, but none of the damage gets through his resistance. I move up and miss as usual. Brenna hits some with her Illusory Ambushes. Strae gale force infusions people, hits three giants, drops the bloody one, and AP to use Energy Shroud on the whole group in melee. Flick minors to heal himself, the moves back and charges as is his way at the Tempest. Thanks to combat advantage he hits and then swift charges to another. On the way he takes two opportunity attacks, to hit another bloody giant. He spend a healing surge for free because he charged.
Arust attacks on the Run, shooting twice and hitting once, but thankfully does damage with both. Thar attacks and kills the Azer, having finally grown tired of him. The Giant moves up and hits Flick, but the Zone Straelyn put up hit him back. The next giant attacks with a broad sweep hitting me, Strae, and Ryvv. As the attack is heading to me, Arust tries to Disruptive Strike, but misses. Ryvv shiftsand misses with magic missile. I fire off Satire of Bravery, push them back, and do light damage. Flick moves back into flank and kills another Bloodied Giant.
Arust moves his mark, twin shots and hits twice. Thar moves up, attacks and misses. The Giant misses Flick. Ryvv hits, Brenna hits, and Flick uses a crazy Sprint, backs off and charges, killing the last Giant. I'm not sure who killed the Tempest, but its no matter.
Thar inspects the bowl, but is puzzled by it. Straelyn and Brenna approach it. Inside the bowl is a small gem that has a small person inside it as if in a Prison. In the corner of the room is a stack of treasure, and the Forge Caller had a blue potion on his belt. There is a magic cloak on the pile. Flick starts to counting and bagging it as the Arcanally inclined start puzzling over the bowl. Soon a second gem is found on the Caller. It matches the first in size and shape, but is opaque and black. Eventually the prison is released when we all focus and will it to be broken. A guy pops out of a bright (albeit harmless flash) and points at Ryvven "We have to talk."
Ryvv seems ok with it, so he and the mid 20's human male move off a ways and talk. They return and Ryvv introduces Cynrain Alderna as his great-great-great-grandson from a tryst with a heartwarder (Priest of Sune) from his much younger days when he was a human! Oh the things I don't know, and probably dont' want to know. Arust seemed not too suprised by it though. Ryvv says he has to be going up to Mistdale, where he line and family of Cynrain are. They are under soem sort of spell or trance. Arust says he will help, but Ryvv says he is just going off to investigate for now. Ryvv says that Cynrain will stay and help in his absence, and to follow what Arust says.
So now we go about getting out. Flick has packed up the 19kgp in treasure, which the Forge Caller called a "War Fund". We pour a drop of the blue liquid on and Delak says from the front the portal changed. We all go out to leave, but when we get out there, it is close. Arust takes the flask, and goes back to the brazier while we all stay. When it opens we begin leaving as Arust is running up to the front at full speed. Flick and Ryvv wait for him, and all jump through as he does.
16th Altruiak
We appear back on the Prime, at the base of the sink hole, but with no magic aura or portal around, just a gentle hole. The fires are also out. The one squire of the ill fated heroic group is still there, though he is frazzled and worn thin. Og is also there, and communicated briefly over the stones that it has been four days.
The treasure pile held a Cloak of Autumn's Child +4 and it is given to Flick or Brenna, and the other keeps Flick's Cloak of Protection (or some such) +3.
We depart the site with things in good order and make our best way to Myth-Drannor. Ryvven has ridden off ahead at a greater pace to be about his business. There is some talking on the way back, but most people are off in their thoughts or resting. We arrive back at our city late in the evening, nearing midnight. We head straight to Og's bar and have drinks. Og tells us he and the other Half-Orcs in Myth-Drannor have been having bad dreams and are being overcome with rage (though they dont' appear to have committed any crimes) in the night. A big mountain, with a red sky, thunder, drums and fire ontop of the mountain are what Og describes in his dream. The fire is moving down the mountain, and he is feeling angry he says. Like being a twelve year old in the horde again.
With enough pondering and some looking up, the peak is probably one from the Dragonspire Mountains, but not which specific peak.
We then call it a night, and Arust crafts a letter fast to the powers that be. Telling them in vague terms and without using anyone's name what has happened over the last few days. He leaves them at the drop point. He also picks up a few scrolls at the pick up point.
We wake up in my apartment and have a nice breakfast before meeting the group to go over the scrolls.
