Here is a bit of info on how to update this wiki -- and we really want you to update! Fill in your character info! Make comments on games you played! Help us fill this thing out!

NOTE: Wiki has since created a new editor that is more of a wysiwyg editor. You can always change to the old style if you want to use your HTML tags. I'm still using the old style, so you're on your own as to how to use the new style with links, etc; however, it looks pretty intuitive.

Getting Access

You will need to email Claus at: Here and he'll send you the password to logon with edit permissions. He will need to know who you are, so if you don't even know who Claus is, prepare to do some explaining.

Basics of Editing

Pretty simple -- go to the page you want to change, and click "Edit Page" and you'll get to enter what ever you want. For the most part you're just entering text, and anything you want to be a wiki link you just enclose in brackets . You can also make the clickable text different from the link by using the vertical dash thingy. Just type (bracket) the link you want | whatever text you want (close bracker).

Standard HTML tags work as well, if you've a mind.

If a link is underlined with a dotted red line, that means that page does not yet exist. To creat it, just click on the link and you'll be given an option to make that page.

For most other stuff, the best way to figure out how to do it is to go to an existing page and click Edit Page to look at the code.

Templates

So we don't actually have templates as the wikimachine defines them; however, at the top of the Games and Players page you'll see a link called "Template." This is a rough skeleton of how the page should look to maintain internal consistency. Click on the template link, edit page, and then just select and copy the code so you can paste it into the new page you're creating.

Note on the Player template there is text that will automatically creat a link to all games that person has played in, and run -- but you must replace the NAME section of the link with their name.

Tags

Every Game page should have tags filled in -- please do this when you create a game page, or when you update it, or if you just see one with tags missing. The wiki can display, on a new page, all of the links to pages containing a certain kind of tag. Thus your Player page will have links to every game that is tagged with NamePlayed (where "Name" is your name). We're hoping they implement more uses of tags in the future.

To add tags: go to the page, but do not clck on the edit page. At the bottom left of the page will be either text readig Tags (if there are already tags) or text reading "No tags yet. Learn More". Next to that text is a plus sign ( + ). Click on the + to add a tag. You must add one tag at a time, hitting enter after adding each one. Once tags are there you can roll over a red x ( X ) to delete a tag.

The following tags should exist on each Game page:

  • The GM should be tagged in the format of NameGM. Thus if Brian ran the game the tag would be "BrianGM"

  • Each player name should be tagged in the format of NamePlayed. Thus if Brian played in the game the tag would be "BrianPlayed"

  • If a game was run at a convention, it should have the convention as a tag. Thus "JonCon" or "GenCon" Note that JonCon07 is a tag for the 2007 JonCon, whereas previous JonCons are all just "JonCon"

  • Each should be tagged "Campaign" or "One-Shot".

  • Game system: Thus if it is a Werewolf game, you should have a "Werewolf" tag.

    • Dungeons and Dragons of any kind should be tagged "DnD"

    • Legend of the Five Rings should be tagged "L5R"

    • Call of Cthulhu should be tagged "Cthulhu"

    • GURPS should be all caps, "GURPS"

    • Mutants and Masterminds should be tagged "MnM"

The following tags should exist on each Character page:

  • The system the character was used in should be prefixed by "Char" so a DnD character would have "CharDnD". Use the same abbreviations as in Game above.

  • The player's name should be prefixed by "Char" so Brian's character would be "CharBrian"

You Must Do This...

We'd like all pages to be as accurate as possible. If you see a game for which no page has been created, please do so! Also, please create a Player page for any player that does not yet have one.... HOWEVER, if you do create a player page, you MUST write a description of that person. It only needs to be a few sentences to give us an idea of who they are. It is not that hard.
