Synopsis: The legends of the age have gathered. Good and evil alike have joined to battle the coming threat of the dread Vampire King and his gathering horde of undead. The Vampire King, allied to a horrid Lich Queen, do not conquer or enslave, they slaughter and raze. Everything sent against them has fallen, or worse, been turned into undead shades, shadows, or some other such horribe negative energy monstrosity. Then, even worse, a demon from a lower pit has joined their cause to bring about the total annihilation of life.
But there are still heroes in this age. Good and evil band together for a final show down against the undead duo's floating castle. Eighteen legends of all races and classes. The greatest company this, or perhaps any, have seen since demi gods walked the lands.
The company of eighteen is epic.
The company easily infiltrates and decimate the majority of the undead forces within the floating citadel. It looked as if victory was easily at hand. But the final battle against the Vampire King and the Lich Queen does not go well. The company had received divine information that the enemy's vampiric forces were no greater than forty. .
Even the wisest of the epic company felt a final battle against forty negative energy vampires was easily winnable.
But the company was betrayed. The information was wrong. There were more than two hundred vampires within the floating castle. Twelve of the company fell in the final battle, forever killed and drained into lifeless shadows or shades.
Even so, the battle turned back in favor of the company. Both the Vampire King and the Lich queen were given a final death. But when the Lich Queen died forever, her magic failed and the great spells that were keeping the castle afloat instantly dispelled. The stone fortress crashed into the icy mountain peaks near the lair of Dag'oth, the ancient White Dragon.
Trapped in a shattered fortress high in the snowy peaks while an enraged White Dragon hunts through the mountains seeking your death. The pit demon is still on the lose and the remaining undead hordes that survived the crash close in on your position.
Perhaps, had you been at full power, escape would not be a great task. But after hours of battle, the six survivors of the epic company have each been energy drained ten levels or more. Once you were Arch Mages, Ranger Lords, and Master Thieves, now drained back to Warlock, Tracker and Filcher. Most of your great magic items and weapons have been destroyed, your spells used, your morale ruined.
A straight up battle is not an option. The forces against you are overwhelming.
But a secret of the ruined castle prevents your escape, a plane spanning secret that is the key ...
to everything.
