Synopsis:
This was a weekly campaign run by Randy at UMF, using Champions rules modified for simplicity. It took place in a (late Silver Age, early Bronze Age) comicbook world, where a variation of the Mutant Registration Act had been passed, requiring law-abiding superhumans and aspiring vigilantes to register with the government and receive training at specialized schools while they learned how to responsibly fight crime. The tone was bright, but with dashes of horror (provided chiefly by ruthless villains)
The regular PCs were a class of rookie heroes enrolled at the Pembroke Academy for the extremely gifted in Eerie, Pennsylvania. (Yes, spelled that way) As we grew, we fought foes such as the Gweenies (and their unwitting pawns, such as Richard M. Nixon), the Buffalo, Hideous, COBRA (a VIPER-like organization run by the Champions version of King Cobra and staffed by an endless army of thugs, cyborgs, and mutated animals), Uncle Bingo, Mr. Toad, and the Bride of Mechanon.
Then came the threat that almost ended our world. As part of a complex plot engineered by an alliance of mad scientists, Dr. Thaddeus Pampas abducted our temporarily comatose shapeshifting compatriot, Sludge, to the town of Perdition, where he intended to use Sludge's cloned liquid flesh as a host to summon forth a family of shapeless Lovecraftian horrors called the M'Nagallahs, forcing the nations of the Earth to turn to their criminal geniuses for help or be devoured. Daedalus was MIA. Spotlight flew as fast as he ever has through a thunderstorm above the cursed town and when he landed, underwent a bizarre transformation into the powerful but alien Arclight.
Ultimately, however, salvation came from an unexpected quarter. Events in another universe (Randy's goblinized-Earth Hero campaign (whatever it was called) the following year) created an interdimensional shearing effect, collapsing the M'Ngallahs' dimensional tunnel between worlds and saving ours.
The campaign picked up again a few years (?) later. The team had graduated from Pembroke and were given a superteam headquarters of their own as a government-authorized team of heroes. Uncle Tad, the good-aligned but neurologically crippled clone of Thaddeus Pampas (injured in an attack by his own creator), acted as our technical advisor, applying his scientific genius to improving our HQ...for example, turning our computer into an advanced AI so intelligent that Batgal asked it to compute Fermat's Theorem while it worked so it wouldn't overload our sensory stimulation threshold with every answer it gave us to every question.

What was the name of the other character Frank played for a while later? The one that was supposed to be a 'Kung Fu'-related character posing as a handyman for the group?

Handyman? I thought he was your butler or something. I've been trying to remember. (Senior year is kinda fuzzy.) Wang Chi? Wong Chu? *sigh* maybe Frank remembers. -Steven
